Book Week Craft Fun!

This year for book week we have made some very easy May Gibbs themed Origami Bookmarks. This craft would suit all ages, perhaps with some guidance for younger ones but it’s a great craft for most and ideal for groups and classes.

Book Week

We used Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and flowering gum blossoms for our inspiration. Be sure to share yours with us, we’d love to see what May Gibbs inspired Origami Bookmarks your group will create!

You will need:

  • Paper squares
  • Scissors
  • Coloured pencils

How to make:

Step 1: Fold the paper in half across the diagonal.

Step 2: Take the bottom right corner and fold it up to meet the center point. Repeat with the left corner.

Step 3: Open back out and lay flat. Take the top point and fold it down to meet the bottom edge of the paper. This will form a pocket.

Step 4: Take the left corner and fold it back up but this time tuck it into the pocket before creasing and pressing flat. Repeat using the right hand corner to finish your bookmark.

Step 5: Decorate your bookmark with coloured pencils. We trimmed ours down to shape for the Gumnut Baby faces we created.
