Bush Stick Photo Frame Sticks are a plentiful resource in the bush. They can be turned into tools or used to create simple décor items. This bush stick photo frame is a fun way to design your own décor piece with materials collected from the bush!

Winter is the perfect time to collect sticks that can be used to feed a campfire or to roast marshmallows for a delicious treat.

Bush sticks can be used to create many crafts.  Even our very own Gumnut Babies are known to use sticks to make shelters or as a walking stick when hiking through the Australian Bush!

For this bush stick photo frame, you only need a few materials.

Bush Stick Photo Frame Instructions

STEP 1: Collect a number of bush sticks on your next walk in the bush. You may even find some sticks in parks or along paths that are lined with trees. Sticks were once branches that have fallen from the tree.

STEP 2: Choose your sticks carefully and cut them into 20cm lengths.

STEP 3: Place your sticks into a frame shape laying two sticks adjacent each other and the other two sticks on top to create the rectangle.

STEP 4: Once you’re happy with your shape, add two more sticks vertically. This allows for the photo to be inserted into the frame.

STEP 5: Dab a dot of glue between each touching stick, methodically, to create your frame.

STEP 6: Optional – you can use twine to wrap around each corner of the frame to keep it sturdier. I used mustard and green twine for an Australiana feel to the frame.

Once complete, you can print and cut photos to suit your frame. Lean the frame against the wall on a console or hall table against the wall. The wall allows the frame to stand up.
