Native Wildflower Bottles for Fairy Play

If you’re looking for a craft that can be made and used for imaginative play, you will love these Native Wild Flower Bottles.

They remind me of fairy bottles from my childhood days. The bottles would often be filled with glitter or crystals and used for display or imaginative fairy play.

Why not give these bottles a nature spin by filling them with wildflowers, leaves, gumnuts, and bark? This not only encourages kids outdoors to gather supplies, it helps them develop an eye for detail.

What makes these native wildflower bottles delightful is their array of colours and textures.

This craft is simple enough for little hands to make, and best of all, it develops fine motor skills as each nature item is placed through the bottle.

Instructions

STEP 1: Go for a walk and collect an array of wild flowers, leaves, gumnuts, and bark that have fallen to the ground. You might like to do an Australian Bush Nature Hunt to gather your supplies using an egg carton.

STEP 2: Open your little bottle and layer your flowers and leaves. Add gumnuts and bark for texture. Use the stem of a flower or a toothpick to press the flowers down gently into the bottle.

STEP 4: Make a few bottles and enjoy them in imaginative play! The bottle of wildflowers could imitate bush baby glitter or a potion for healing. Use your imagination on how you’d like to use your wildflower bottles. Alternatively, you can just keep them on display because they look so pretty!
