Recreate your favourite sleeping gumnut babies
This Sleeping Gumnut Baby Craft is a fun and imaginative way to recreate your favourite characters using a few simple materials.
Gumnuts and Blossoms sleep in beds made of leaves, gumnuts or in flowers. I’m not sure how comfortable it would be to sleep on a gum leaf, but I’m sure it would be cosy cocooned in a gumnut or inside a flower!
Fine motor skills will be put to use when making your sleeping gumnut baby. You will also need to gather some leaves to assemble this sweet scene together.
Materials
Gumnut
Wooden bead
Leaves
Secateurs
Hot glue gun
Sharpie pen
Instructions
STEP 1: Take your wooden bead and use the Sharpie pen to draw closed eyes and a mouth.
STEP 2: Glue the wooden bead into the top of your gumnut opening. The bead will be the head of your sleeping gumnut baby.
STEP 3: Trim a leaf to make a headdress for your gumnut baby. Use the hot glue gun to stick this on top of the wooden bead head.
STEP 4: Place your gumnut baby on a leaf bed and glue into place.
STEP 5: Trim another leaf to create the blanket over your gumnut baby. Secure each end of the leaf blanket with a dab of the glue gun.
