Description
Here are the adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.
They were foster brothers and this is how it came about…
In 1918, May Gibbs introduced her most famous Gumnut brothers of all when she released Tales Of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie. The first of three stories about the intrepid Snugglepot and demure Cuddlepie saw the inquisitive Nuts leave home on an adventure.
On their journey they meet many new friends including Mr Lizard, Lanky Legs, Mrs Kookaburra and of course Little Ragged Blossom. They also encounter foes in Mrs Snake and the wicked Banksia Men. When they encounter a Human they discover that humans can be kind to bush creatures.
This charming water colour illustration by May Gibbs is the frontispiece featured in the original book Tales Of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and also now features in the compendium book The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie published by HarperCollinsChildren’s Books Australia.
The quote below the image is the introduction to the original story and reads:
